Membership
Our members are grassroots groups and organizations working in underserved and
underrepresented communities. Membership benefits include capacity building
trainings, technical support, and opportunities participate in issue-based grassroots
action coalitions.
CAMPAIGNS
Equal Voices Campaign
Movement-building efforts to increase grassroots participation in public policy through
town hall meetings and other civic engagement efforts, including voter registration and
education drives, and facilitated group dialogues about public issues affecting
underserved communities. One of the final products of the campaign will be a
grassroots action platform that will be an updated version of the 10-Point Grassroots
Agenda created in 1998.
COALITION-BUILDING
Technical support, including planning facilitation and online interactive project
management system, are used to foster grassroots movement building. The following
are some coalitions benefiting from this initiative:
Tenants' Voice Council
A diverse tenants-based team advocating for respect and development of tenants’ rights
in Marin.
Building Healthy Communities Partnership
An alliance of diverse stakeholders committed to advocate for environmental health and
justice.
Civic Engagement Coalition
A coalition of community-based organizations focused on promoting non-partisan voter
registration and education as one of the first steps of grassroots civic engagement.
COMMUNICATIONS
Grassroots Voices TV Show
Series of half-hour TV talk shows produced to give visibility to grassroots groups and
issues affecting underrepresented communities.
Grassroots Blog
Blogs are a great way to share timely information about what is going on. Check our blog
often and get involved by writing your comments and/or becoming a grassroots blogger!
NETWORKING
The Grassroots Experts Bureau is made of a group of Bay Area leaders, knowledgeable
about pressing social and environmental justice issues affecting our communities,
such as health, environment, housing, civic engagement and leadership, to name
a few. Each bureau member comes with a richness of experience and desire
to share their knowledge.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Annual Marin Grassroots Leadership Convening
An annual gathering of community leaders aimed at creating effective collaborations to
impact public policies and community development.
Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration
The life and inspiration of Martin Luther King Jr. are celebrated in this Marin City
community event featuring breakfast community forum, youth art & essay contest and
awards, community leadership awards, multi-cultural talent performances, and much
more.
We support local grassroots groups and coalitions to promote social change and civic
participation in underrepresented communities. Our work is organized in programs as
