MARISOL MUÑOZ-KIEHNE, Ph.D.
Marisol Muñoz-Kiehne, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist
who fosters the well being of families through parenting
classes, psychotherapy, therapist training, mass media
outreach, and educational writings. Her work has
earned recognitions such as the 2006 Most Influential
Hispanics in the SF Bay Area award and the 2007
Stand Up Novato Award. Dr. Muñoz-Kiehne has an
undergraduate and three graduate degrees in
psychology.
Expertise: health care, diversity, education, parents and education, empowerment,
media advocacy and time management.
She serves as Bilingual Clinical Psychologist and
Associate Director of Clinical Training at Marin County’
s Division of Community Mental Health, where she
provides psychological services, supervises clinicians,
and coordinates a parenting education program. She
has taught graduate psychology at JFK University, New
College of California, and SF State University, and
serves as consultant for agencies such as Full Circle
Family Institute and Family Service Agency. Also known
as “Doctora Marisol,” Dr. Muñoz-Kiehne hosts
“Nuestros Niños” radio program, an educational call-in
weekly show for parents and caregivers aired
throughout Northern California, and “De Colores en
Encuentro Latino,” a TV program aired on local
stations. She speaks and serves as master of
ceremonies at conferences and community events.
Doctora Marisol writes weekly columns for “Visión
Hispana,”and monthly columns for “Impulso,” “El
Heraldo,” “La Voz,” “El Tecolote,” and “Que Onda en la
Bahía.” Her freelance writing includes two books for
children (“Since my Brother Died/Desde que Murió mi
Hermano” and “Big Bad News/Muy Malas Noticias”)
and stories published in magazines and books such
as “Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul” and “Dear
Mom, I Always Wanted You to Know…”
