LINDA M. JACKSON
Linda Jackson is Principal Planner with the City of San
Rafael. As a long range planner, she was project
manager for San Rafael General Plan 2020, Vision
North San Rafael, and the Canal Voice conversations.
She was also involved with Our Vision of Downtown
San Rafael.
Expertise: transportation, youth leadership, diversity, education, parents and
education, housing, empowerment, social justice, public information and participation
in decision-making and education equity among others.
The planning changes for the Downtown Vision won the
1996 Ahwahnee Award for Smart Growth from the Local
Government Commission, and the outreach efforts for
General Plan 2020 received a 2005 award from the
Northern California Chapter, General Plan 2020
received a 2005 award from the Northern California
Chapter, Rafael City School Board of Education. She is
also a board member of Marin Education Fund, where
she mentors first generation high school seniors who
want to go to college. Before joining the City of San
Rafael, Linda was with the Department of Planning in
Austin, Texas. Prior to Austin, she served two years with
the Peace Corps in Ecuador in the Home and
Community Improvement Program. Linda holds an M.S.,
Community and Regional Planning, and an M.A., Latin
American Studies, both from the University of Texas at
Austin, and a B.A., Urban Studies, from Wellesley
College. Linda and her husband, architect Jim Stone,
make their home in San Rafael.
